Church Murals by Lyn Martin

These church wall murals were created by Lyn Martin for the Grace Episcopal Church in Chattanooga, TN. The Grace priest contacted Lyn for the project in order to make the entrance more welcoming while taking something from Genesis (the Creation) and honoring older parishioners that worked to have the church building raised. Part of the artwork that Lyn created was inspired by a prayer during a service about “the planets in their courses and our island home, this planet earth.” Lyn painted the walls on site using Benjamin Moore wall paint and traditional acrylics for the details. A different task for an artist accustomed to using canvas board and a computer – especially painting most of the time on scaffolding!!

Skype Ad Campaign Slams Social Media

Skype has just introduced an ad campaign and what a message! Directed at social media – in particular Facebook and Twitter, it is all about the “art of conversation.” Now, we all are involved in social networking and it is certainly a good thing but there are times when we need to speak directly with people – through “real talk” on Skype or just on the phone. We are supposed to be in the communications business and most clients only want to communicate through social media and email. Acquiring information about a prospective illustration assignment can be easily achieved through a “real conversation” rather than an impersonal message that almost always lacks enough information to even understand the scope of the project. In a few minute human conversation all details can be discussed and everyone will feel comfortable that the project is on track to be a success! Hats off to Skype!

Technical Art by Ron Magnes

It doesn’t happen often but at times a client needs a technical illustration. Ron Magnes is very adept at taking technical information and coming up with an informative illustration that explains a process or diagram that can be easily understood by the reader. Recently a client needed an illustration of a water treatment plant to be used in a brochure for the PPG Marine Coatings Division. This is the final technical illustration that Ron created for the brochure.

Cartoon Illustrations by George Schill

Recently a client requested a “cartoon” illustration by George Schill but was not sure of the exact style that would work for the project. This certainly is not an uncommon request even after a buyer has viewed the artist portfolio on our web site. To help with finding the right cartoon “look” George created this pdf file to help in the decision making.
